Types of Financial Aid
There are four main types of financial aid. Generally, a student is offered a combination of aid consisting of the following:
Grants
Grants are awarded based on financial need and require no repayment.
Scholarships
Scholarships are awarded based on many factors, including academic achievement, special talent, ability or financial need. No repayment is required. The WSU Scholarships Web site has scholarship information for undergraduate and graduate students. The Graduate School Web site has scholarship and fellowship information specifically for graduate students
Work study programs
Work study is a form of need-based federal and state financial aid. Work study provides students with part-time employment opportunities in a variety of on and off-campus jobs.
Loans
Loans must be repaid at a future date, with interest, usually following graduation or when you cease to be enrolled at least half-time.
