Report Additional Aid, Resources, and Scholarships
Scholarships that are awarded from local community, organizations, and other private sources are considered outside scholarships. Students receiving scholarships from outside sources are required to notify the Office of Student Financial Aid (OSFA).
Federal regulations require that scholarships be included in the determination of your financial aid package. In some instances scholarships may reduce or replace a portion of your financial aid award package. If the total amount of your aid (to include outside scholarships) exceeds the amount of your "need," OSFA is required to adjust and possibly reduce other awards when we learn of any additional assistance. This includes all scholarships, grants, tuition waivers or reductions, stipends, veteran’s benefits, vocational rehabilitation benefits and employer tuition assistance. Graduate students with graduate research, teaching positions, or stipends should notify OSFA if they are also applying for federal aid. Loans are the first item to be adjusted on your financial aid award.
Please refer to the Steps for Reporting Outside Awards and/or Scholarships sheet for detailed instructions regarding reporting funds to the financial aid office.
